About Us
We are a nerd owned and operated boutique company that has been boldly designing hand-crafted niche products for limited runs.
We take pride in featuring quality over quantity, and we’re devoted to making every product something WE would want in our fandom collections.
How We Began
The Telekiad mission began in 2004, as a way of sharing our combined enthusiasm for fandoms, cards, and games. Our first card sets were hand-made and given as gifts to our friends, who encouraged us to make them more widely available for all nerds. We produced our first professionally printed cards in 2007, and started our online Telekiad store in 2020 for our first licensed product line launch.
We exist on the web; we do not run a physical shop, but you might see us in person at your favorite fan conventions. We create and sell truly unique cards and other products. Every item we design and commission ourselves. Our aim is to have all of our products in stock, at all times, but please note we do not stock items other than the ones you see on our web site. If an item is temporarily out of stock, please be patient — we are making more, and the product will be available again as quickly as possible.
We are based in Anoka, a small town near metropolitan Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the northern central United States.
Founder
Mark “Adam” Baum is a first-generation Star Trek fan. He grew up watching the original series as it first aired, then continued in reruns. He was an active part of early fandom at a time when it was still far from mainstream. He has photos of himself wearing a proudly handmade costume, posing with stars and on astonishing fan-built replica sets, at a New York City Star Trek convention in 1976. He has since attended and helped run fan conventions for decades, as a hobby.
In his professional life, he is a career software engineer, with experience including simulation software, advanced image processing, color science and data analytics.
